My maternity shoot was done at 33 weeks (it think). Being pregnant was one of the most weird, interesting, cool and fun thing I have ever experienced. From the movements to the tiredness, I must say I miss it! I miss waking up to a big belly that I would rub and try to adjust in every way possible. I think I had it easy though. I never got sick or badly ill. The only problem was sleeping all the time. I would miss classes because of sleeping in. Now that I see my baby, she loves sleeping a lot too! My appetite grew too. I ate way more than I ever had before. Right after I gave birth, I had a hard time eating. I could not eat as much as I use to, I just was not hungry. It sucked because my baby suffered with not getting enough to eat. Eventually my appetite came back to normal and I have a happy breast fed baby. Pregnancy is one thing every woman should experience. In the end it will be worth it :)

Shayde Kamanoheaokapuka`anaokalā Laimana

Shayde was due on June 15th, but I guess she really wanted to steal her daddy's birthday. I almost got induced, because a week had almost passed by. I was so happy when my water broke and I guess my running the day before payed off. At first I didn't know what was going on, but I knew I felt a pop inside of me. My mom called my sister in law and told her what happened, and then she said you better get to the hospital now or your contractions will get stronger. It was a long night. We arrived at Castle Medical Center around 10:30 pm and she finally arrived at 8:59 am. I pushed for four hours straight! Shayde's head was in a weird position and she pretty much was considered stuck. I almost got a caesarean section if she didn't come ou,t because her heart rate kept going down. I pushed every way possible and my legs were all over the place, haha. It was embarrassing but I think I was too drugged to care. When they finally saw her head, then used that suction thing to pull her out. So for a day she had a cone head on top of her already big head. Labor was a pain and pushing was a bigger pain, but in the end she is so worth it. We named her Shayde because we really were looking for a 'Sh" name. My mom is Sherry, I'm Shanelia and now we have Shayde. We were first going with Shadon but it sounded like a boy and it seems like everyone is naming their kids with some letter plus "Aiden" or however they spell it. Shayde is so perfect for her and I love original names. Of course her dad wanted a Y in it to be fancy. We got her middle Hawaiian name because her dad had a dream that we were calling her Nohea. We loved Nohea and just fit it in to a phrase that suited her. Since I was in labor most of the sunrise we named her Kamanoheaokapuka`anaokalā which is the beautiful child of the sunrise. I kind of wish she was born at sunset because she seems to always wake up with the sun. But we love our Shayde and are so happy to have her finally out in this world with us. Shayde is my summer solstice baby or the first day of summer! I hope she will love the summer season just as much as I do.
